EH&S Background Data / Define Work Restriction Categories

A work restriction category defines a limitation placed on a worker, often due to an incident or as a consequence of medical monitoring. A typical example is restricting an employee from working with a chemical because they have exhibited an allergic reaction to the chemical.

When you define a work restriction category for the scenario described above, you might name the work restriction category "Chemical" and provide a description such as "Causes allergic reaction." You can define as many restriction categories as necessary. After a category is defined you can assign the restriction category to an employee.

To define a work restriction category:

  1. In the Process Navigator click EH&S Background Data to open the background data entry tab.
  2. In the left pane under Work Restrictions click Define Work Restriction Categories.

Previously defined categories are listed in the middle pane.

  3. In the middle pane click Add New to open the entry form in the right pane.
  4. In the entry form enter a restriction category code and optional description for the category.

Typical work restriction codes might include: lifting, standing, respirator, chemical, etc.

  5. In the right pane click Save to record your entry in the database.

The entry is displayed and can be selected in the middle pane.
