How to Set Up a VPA by Building in the ARCHIBUS Users Table

To set up a VPA restriction that restricts a user’s access to information based on the buildings to which they have access (as defined for them in the ARCHIBUS Users table):

  1. Access the ARCHIBUS Users table.This example looks at user Z-VPA1 which has an HQ VPA Building Code restriction
  2. Enter one of the following Building Code values for the user in the VPA Building Code List field:

HQ

Building HQ data

HQ%

All buildings that are prefixed with HQ

HQ, JFK   

Building HQ or JFK data

NULL,HQ

All records that have no Building Code or that are in building HQ.

NULL,HQ%,JFK,1204  

Blank records, records LIKE HQ% or in JFK or in 1204
  1. Log on as the user with the VPA restriction and that user will see only data for the appropriate building. For this example, user Z-VPA1 accesses only information for the HQ building.
