Editing the Language Files Table

From the Edit Language Files Table task, you can edit the lang_files table. This table has the list of translatable strings that appear in .axvw, .js, .or java files. See Localization Tables.

Viewing Mistranslated Parameters

The Edit Language Files Table (lang_files) view has a Find Mistranslated parameters action. This action lists those strings that have a different number of replaceable parameters in the English than in the target translation, a condition that should never exist. It is fine for the parameters to be in a different order, but they must all be present. For example, the error log would tag the following string because it is missing a parameter (the bracket before the curly bracket):

"Group move [{0}] already includes a move for Employee [{1}]"

"Gruppenumzug [{0}] enthalt bereits einen Umzugfar Mitarbeiter [1}]"

How to Edit String Translations Using the Language File Table

To edit lang_files table:

  1. Select the Technologies\Localization\Edit Language Files Table task.
  2. Select the target language from the Language list. See About the Language Selection.
  3. Optionally, select the File Type to restrict the view to a specific file type. If you make no selection, all file types are shown.
  4. Optionally, select to view strings that are too long, that is, strings that are 2,000 characters or more.
  5. Click Show.

    The File String - Translate section shows the translatable strings using any restriction you set.

  6. To restrict the view by any column header, use the smart search filter. For example, you can search for newly inserted (Inserted) or updated strings (Updated) by entering a value the Data Transfer field, or for strings in a specific file by entering a file name in the File Name field.
  7. To edit a string, click on it.

    The File Strings - Translate dialog appears.

  8. Enter a translation in the Translated String field., and click Save.
