Getting Started with ARCHIBUS

Learning ARCHIBUS

The home page of ARCHIBUS Help -- its Learning Path -- will guide you through the documentation that you require based on your role in using ARCHIBUS. Below, is a brief summary of the documentation components and other tools for learning the ARCHIBUS products.

ARCHIBUS Help

ARCHIBUS Help is a context-sensitive online help system covering ARCHIBUS Web Central, ARCHIBUS Smart Client, the ARCHIBUS Smart Client DWG Editor, the Smart Client Extensions for AutoCAD and Revit, and the ARCHIBUS applications.

The Help System includes conceptual overviews, step-by-step instructions, command reference, detailed application reference, and a comprehensive glossary.

For each software update, ARCHIBUS Help also includes a product revision history and a listing of new features.

Access ARCHIBUS Help in the following manners:

ARCHIBUS System Management Help

Users wishing to customize the ARCHIBUS programs, integrate them with other applications, install the products, administer the database, and other related tasks will find that ARCHIBUS System Management Help contains all the information they require.

In addition to providing comprehensive reference material on the System domain, it covers material required by system administrators, database administrators, and system integrators to implement ARCHIBUS and Web Central as best suits the needs of the site.

Access it by right-clicking on the process of the ARCHIBUS System Administration application, accessing a pop-up menu, and choosing Help from this menu. You can also link to ARCHIBUS System Management Help from the Learning Path of ARCHIBUS Help.

Sample Data

ARCHIBUS includes sample projects with data and drawings that are based on actual buildings and organizations. Examining the sample data will help you understand how the ARCHIBUS applications address specific facilities management goals. For example, if you are curious as to how ARCHIBUS handles building efficiency rates, you can load the “Building Performance” report and examine how it calculates and presents rentable and usable area data for a sample project. Similarly, if you want to understand a space inventory that tracks vertical penetration and service areas, look at drawing HQ19 (the drawing of the nineteenth floor of the sample Headquarters building).

ARCHIBUS Training Classes

ARCHIBUS trainers are available to conduct classes on ARCHIBUS at your site, at the ARCHIBUS Inc. corporate headquarters in Boston, MA, USA, or from ARCHIBUS, Inc. regional offices.
