Usage Notes for ARCHIBUS Web Central and the Applications
Web Central Program
- Web Central. Paginated Reports. Open Office. Opening a paginated report with drawings in Open Office 3.1.1 produces an output that has no drawings or legend highlights. As a workaround, save *.docx into *.doc format.
- Web Central Enterprise Graphics. Loading. (3024655) If your workstation uses Internet Explorer or Firefox and you load a drawing's enterprise graphics in Web Central or in the Smart Client, then republish that drawing's enterprise graphics, the change may not appear when you reload the enterprise graphics in the view. For performance reasons, some versions of Internet Explorer and Firefox do not immediately refresh the enterprise graphics files from their local cache even when the file has a later timestamp, as checking the timestamp involves an extra query to the server for each file. To view your changes, clear your Internet Explorer or Firefox cache or restart your browser. If you wish to see changes immediately without clearing your cache, you can change your browser cache settings to control the problem.
Firefox
- Select Tools > Options.
- Select the Advanced tab, and then the Network tab.
- In the Offline Storage section, enter 0 for the MB of space used for the cache,
Internet Explorer
- In Internet Explorer 8, select Tools->Options.
- Select the General tab and click Settings in the Browser History section.
- On the Temporary Internet Files and History Settings dialog, in the “Check for newer versions of stored pages” section, change the default “Automatically” to either “Every Time I visit the webpage” or “Every Time I start Internet Explorer” based on your preference. Depending on the setting you select, the newer SWF file will be loaded when you visit the webpage (for example, when you select the Process Navigator task for this drawing view), or restart Internet Explorer.
- Web Central. ARCHIBUS Administration. Edit Users. If you change any aspect of a user's sign in information, such as their password or their assigned list pf processes, they will not see the change until (a) they sign out, and (b) their Web Session expires. The reason for this is that user information is cached for performance.
- ARCHIBUS
Help is Web-based. The
ARCHIBUS help systems are Web-based and use your computer's Internet
browser window. When
you start the help systems, you may receive a warning that Internet Explorer
has restricted the file from showing active content. Choose
Allow Blocked Content and then choose Yes when prompted to let this file
run active content. Otherwise, the Contents and Index will not display
properly. Alternately,
you can turn off this message by running the Internet Explorer's Tools/Internet
Options command, choosing the Security tab on the Internet Options dialog,
selecting the Custom Level button, and changing the default setting for
"Automatic Prompting for ActiveX Controls."
- ARCHIBUS
Help. Browser Pane. If you access the
help system and it does not display the Browser pane with the Contents,
Index, and Search features, choose the Show Contents button in the upper left corner of the help system window.
- Edit
Forms. Data Entry. If
you enter an invalid value in a numeric field (e.g. "12a", "aaaa"
,or "") the form will display the value as a blank when you
leave the field. For integer fields, if you enter a decimal value (e.g.
12.00), the field control will change that value to blank when you leave
the field. If you enter an invalid value in a date field (e.g. "333333"),
the form will convert the date to the nearest date (e.g. "12/31/1933")
when you leave the field. Similarly if you enter an invalid value and
press the Save button, the form will convert the value to a valid one
(e.g. "0", "0.0", or "12/31/1933") and save
that value. You will see the actual saved values when the edit form refreshes
so you can review or change them as needed. Please notice that there is
no separate error message that displays under these conditions.
- Report
Forms. No Items. If
a particular report -- or a frame of a report -- has no data to present,
it will display as "No items." This
may be because there is a restriction or Virtual Private ARCHIBUS (VPA)
restriction in place. You can use the View Definition Wizard or My Profile forms,
if available, to see if there is a parsed restriction or a building or
site VPA restriction in place. You may also wish to consult your facility
information manager to see if there is an SQL restriction or a specialized
type of VPA restriction in place. For
views where this information is essential, your business process owner may wish to add statistics
at the top of the view that show the total number of records as well as
the number displayed to give this context.
- Reports. Printing. The 2.0 format views use IFrames, which print only the data that is visible on the screen and not the data that is scrolled off of the screen. To see all of the data in a printable form, use a view that has a Pdf or XLS button on it; this will print the view’s data to an Adobe Pdf or a Microsoft Xls file. Another option is to copy and paste the required data to Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word and print directly from that application
.
Web Central Applications
- Portfolio Management. Portfolio Summary/Buildings/Structure/Land. This application includes KPI charts that aggregate the data available to your organization, and the data that is leased out to tenants. There are two situations in which leased out area is not redefined as available area:
- If an owned building is leased out to tenants, and the lease expires, the suite area is not recaptured as available area
- If a leased building is subleased, and the sublease expires, the suite area is not redefined as available area
- Project Management/Execute/Procure task/Import tab. To import an *.xml file from Microsoft Project 2003, you must choose to “Open as a new project." Otherwise, you may encounter errors with the predecessors values if you decide to append the data or merge the data. (3011985)
- Project
Management. View Projects Map. In the Project Map, in order to see action
items by room, you must associate your action items
with a room in the Extension for AutoCAD and then publish the asset data to enterprise graphics.
To display action items in the Projects Map:
- Start the Extension
and open the ARCHIBUS project and drawing for the action items you wish to
display in the Projects Map.
- Use the Set Asset
Layer command to change the current layer to activity_log / Action Items.
- Draw a polyline inside
the room asset symbol for the action item. For example, draw a rectangular
polyline inside the boundaries of room 107 to associate the action item
with that room.
- Select the ARCHIBUS Attach
to Record command and select the polyline you just created.
- In the Attach to
Record dialog, select the Action Item you wish to display in the Projects
Map and click OK.
- Repeat steps 3 through
5 for each room and action item you wish to map.
- Save the drawing
and run Publish Enterprise Graphics
- Copy the enterprise graphics to your project (e.g. to projects\hq\enterprise-graphics\).
- Move Management. Group Moves Dashboard. WebLogic. From the dashboard, running Request a Group Move might cause the application to run very slowly. Instead, WebLogic users can choose the Process Navigator task: Move Management / Enterprise Move Management / Move Requestor / Request a Group Move.
- Emergency Preparedness. Two Entries on the Process Navigator. In the pre-19.1 ARCHIBUS Activities table, Emergency Preparedness was AbSpaceEmergencyPreparedness. In the 19.1 and later database, it is AbRiskEmergencyPreparedness. If you upgrade the old database to v19.1 or later and run the Database Update Wizard, you will see two Emergency Preparedness entries on the Process Navigator. The old Activity record, AbSpaceEmergencyPreparedness, should be deleted.
- Reservations. In the Reservations applications, it is possible to reserve
a room or resource for a date in the past. This allows for correct recording
of reservations that have already taken place.
