What's New in V20.1: Smart Client Programs

To new extensions round out the Smart Client Programs changes in this release. They are:

Smart Client Extension for Revit

ARCHIBUS users are increasingly using Revit models as the repository of choice for authoring their building graphical representations. These folks use detailed Revit models for architectural as-builts. They often use simplified, quick-load “facility record models” for day-to-day facility management.

To support a wider range of use cases, V.20.1 adds a number of enhancements to the ARCHIBUS Extension for Revit. These enhancements include the following.

Before you can use any of the Extension for Revit commands, you must use the ARCHIBUS Model Properties command. Before you can enable the ARCHIBUS Model Properties command you must do the following:

  1. Save your drawing as something other than the default (e.g. save it as MyRevitProject.rvt and not Project1.rvt).
  2. Select a Revit level that contains Revit elements that can be asset symbols (rooms, areas, equipment, etc.). For some entities any level name will do. For instance, for Rooms, you may pick "Level 1". For some entities that map ambiguously to ARCHIBUS assets, this level name must follow the convention in the ARCHIBUS BIM Families Table. For instance, levels with area entities must be on a level that contains "Area Plan" in their name (e.g. Level 1 - Area Plan)

  3. Give the drawing focus. The Properties command will be enabled.

These environments contain a variety of improvements to the existing commands. For instance, the grid and the Select Values commands use a virtual paging scheme for retrieving large amounts of data incrementally, giving local "feel" even to data that is being delivered from a remote or cloud-based server.
