When hierarchical security is implemented, a role determines the processes, tasks, and data to which a particular user has access. Typical roles are Guest, Maintenance Manager, Craftsperson, Business Process Owner, and so on.

The ARCHIBUS Roles table collects all groups for particular roles within an organization and matches ARCHIBUS Security Roles to SQL-level Security roles. Roles can be assigned to records using Web Central's System Administration/Business Process Owner/Assign Process to Users task.
