A tool that walks general users through the process of changing a select set of properties of views that allow editing.
With the Alter View Wizard, a user can use a wizard interface to change a view's visible fields, sort order, field display order, restriction, view title, and panel titles. For view analysis-style views, users can additionally change calculations and chart properties.
Depending on their role, users can overwrite the existing view (advanced users), or save the changed view to their My Favorites (general users).
Views that allow customization with the Alter View Wizard presents in their upper right corners a button for launching the Alter View Wizard. Views created with the View Definition Wizard can be edited with the Alter View Wizard unless the view creator has hand-coded a setting to disallow editing.
Advanced users can also use the View Definition Wizard to define and change view. The Alter View Wizard and View Definition Wizard share some interface components; they both present the View Characteristics tab for specifying the restriction, field visibility, view title, and so forth. The View Definition Wizard presents additional tabs for specifying the view format and the tables to include, as well as tabs for previewing and publishing the view.
