business process owner

The person responsible for implementing the ARCHIBUS system at a site. A business process owner knows the steps required to work through a certain business process, and handles all issues involving the users of a process, the tasks for a process, and the data for a process. For example, a business process owner determines which users have access to the space chargeback process and whether they have authority to claim and release space.

Typically, a business process owner determines:

the background facilities data that must be developed
the fields of data that must be completed
the necessary tasks to display for each role, and to which roles each user should be assigned
the customizations that must be made to views and calculations to reflect the business's practices

Depending on the size of the company, business process owners might handle these tasks themselves, or might work with add-in managers and ARCHIBUS administrators to implement them.

Within a company, each facilities management function may have its own business process owner. For example,a site might have be separate business process owners for building maintenance and space inventory, with each business process owner an expert their area and able to direct how ARCHIBUS should be implement to best meet the site's needs.
