Note: This topic covers both Preventive Maintenance and On Demand work orders. Issuing work orders and work requests operates similarly in both applications; the only differences are the names of the tasks and tabs: for PM, the tasks are "Issue Work Orders" and "Issue Work Requests" and for On Demand, the tasks are "Issue and Print Work Orders" and "Issue and Print Work Requests."
Work requests can be manually or automatically assigned to work orders. The next step is to issue and optionally print your work orders for execution by running one of these tasks:
Once a work order is issued, it is considered to be an active work order.
Note: If you expect to see an on demand work request in your queue for issuing and it is not present, the system may have automatically assigned it to a work order and issued it. An SLA can call for auto-assigning work requests to work orders and optionally auto-issuing work orders.
To issue a work order:
If your site hides work order information so that you focus on work requests, follow this procedure:
If you choose a work request whose work order has other assigned work requests, the system will prompt you to also select the other assigned work requests. You can use the Assigned to Work Order column to view the work order information and locate all requests assigned to the same work order.
If this work request's work order has other assigned work requests, the system will issue those work requests as well.
You may find that you need to cancel a work request.
You can do so from the "Issue and Print" tab by selecting a work request and choosing the Cancel Selected button. If all work requests assigned to a work order are canceled, the system will automatically cancel the work order.
