cost center

Within a company, an organization for which the company tracks costs and income. For example, the editorial personnel within a company can form a cost center. The editing cost center is billed for the space and supplies that editors use; similarly, the editing cost center bills other cost centers in the company for use of their editing services. In ARCHIBUS, you work with cost centers by working with accounts, or the organizational hierarchy (any component of the organizational hierarchy can be considered to be a cost center). See also organizational hierarchy.
