The application ships with predefined data, such as problem types for work requests and sample floor plan drawings. You will find this data in the BOSMED sample data. Before creating your actual working environment, you might want to practice using the Space and Building Operations consoles with this sample data.
For example, you can work in the Space Console using the sample floor plans to perform key tasks, such as finding vacancies and assigning employees to rooms. Or, you can submit work requests for locations and problem types, and assign the work to craftspersons using the sample data from the Building Operations Console. The sample data enables you to learn the applications using realistic data. Then, when you are ready to create your working environment, you delete the sample data.
As you are working in the consoles, you can use the Add New button to add your own data. If you add your own locations, these will not be deleted when you delete the sample data. This means that you can add your locations as you work knowing that those locations will be preserved when you delete the sample data.See Deleting the BOSMED Sample Data.
The metrics on the Quick-Start Home navigation page have been configured for demonstration rather than for actual use. This means that these metrics were entered directly into the database as opposed to being calculated from actual space inventory and building operations data. As a Quick-Start user, when you delete the sample data, the sample metrics are deleted and the calculation of metrics based on your own data is enabled. See Enabling Metrics.
From the Quick-Start Home page, in the Performance Metrics section, click on a metric and a complete description of the metric appears.
The following shows the description box for a metric:
To get started using sample data:
The Quick-Start Home Page appears.
The Building Operations Console appears. You are now ready to submit requests for work (report problems), and change the status of these requests as work progresses. See Exploring the Building Operations Console.
Space Console from the Space section.
The Space Console appears. You are now ready to manage your space. For example, you can generate an occupancy plan, or find vacant, at capacity, and over-capacity rooms. See Explore the Space Console.
Do not rename the project, as this name is required to delete the sample data.
When you are ready to get started using your own data, you delete the sample data. This gives you a fresh project that you can use for your actual work. See Deleting Sample Data.
