Determining the longitude and latitude coordinates of an asset from its street address and recording these values in the Longitude and Latitude fields of the corresponding asset's table.
ARCHIBUS map views, which integrate facilities data with maps, use these coordinates to place an asset marker at the appropriate geographic location on the map. If a building has not been geocoded, the views that work with the mapping features cannot display the building's location on a map.
ARCHIBUS activities that offer map views include actions for geocoding assets so that the activity's map views can include a map with asset markers. The Business Process Owner can run the geocode action when adding buildings using the Define Locations task.
