Defining Part Storage Locations

Use the Define Part Storage Locations task to define and edit the storage locations for parts. You can then assign these storage locations to parts, so that you can track parts by their location and transfer parts to the location where they are needed.

A part storage location can represent any physical type of storage location, such as a warehouse, a stock room, a storage cart, or even a craftsperson’s vehicle.

Optionally, part storage locations can be associated with a building and room, or an equipment asset.

Procedure: Define storage locations

To define storage locations:

  1. Select Define Parts Storage Locations task.

The Define Parts Storage Location form appears.

  2. Enter the following information for the location:
  3. Click Save.

Delete storage locations

You are not able to delete a storage location that still contains some part quantities, or is included in an active work request, supply requisition, purchase order, or preventive maintenance schedule.

However, archived records in the Historical WR Part Usage (hwrpt) table can still reference the storage location that is being deleted.

Current Parts Inventory report

This cross-table report shows the availability of parts in all storage locations that you have access to. Use the Filter console to restrict the locations by Part Code and Part Classification.

To access details for the storage locations for the parts shown, click on a count. A popup window shows the Quantity Available, Quantity on Reserve, and the Physical Count Quantity for each part contributing to the total.
