ARCHIBUS supports the Business Unit-Division-Department hierarchy to represent the organizations that use assets and occupy space.

In addition to this hierarchy, ARCHIBUS offers the Organizational Units (org) table, with which you can store unlimited levels of a hierarchy (an n-tier hierarchy) in one table.

For example, the highlighted BIP - Imaging and Printing organizational unit is part of a 6-level hierarchy. It is represented as: G|CUS|CSB|OPS|BSF|BIP|.

Organizational units are used in the following application areas. Additionally, system administrators can add the validated Organization Code field (validated by the org table) to additional tables.

Teams table (Space Console)
Equipment table -- Includes the Organizational Unit field for sites that integrate BUILDER^TM SMS with ARCHIBUS.
Extensions for BUILDER^TM SMS -- Offers the Asset Management / Enterprise Asset Management / Extensions for BUILDER SMS / View and Edit Organizational Units (ab-def-org.axvw) so that you can define organizational units and view organizational units that you import from BUILDER^TM SMS.
