CAD User: Overview

As a CAD specialist, you may be tasked with depicting in CAD drawings or Revit the various areas of your facility. You use these tasks to develop a site plans and floor plans:

• Draw Buildings on a Site Plan
• Draw Gross Area
• Draw Vertical Penetration Area
• Draw Service Area
• Draw Groups (for suites and departmental groups)
• Draw Rooms

You depict a floor area in a CAD drawing with a polyline, and then assign this polyline intelligence, which connects it to a database record. An intelligent polyline linked to a database record is known as an asset symbol. For information, see Asset Symbols: Overview.
