Multiplexing equipment are network switches or routers that gather signals from multiple ports and transfer them via a single port to another device uplink towards the server.
All items connected to a multiplexing device are connected to each other. Servers and network switches are multiplexing devices; patch panels are not. You specify that a device is multiplexing by setting its "Is Multiplexing?" field to Yes. You can also set this field to "Use Standard" and the set the standard's "Is Multiplexing?" field to Yes.
