Tracking vertical penetration area is useful for locating areas that penetrate through multiple floors of a building. Elevators, stairs, and shafts are examples of vertical penetrations.
When outlining vertical penetrations, include their enclosing walls and disregard areas less than 0.1 square meters (1 square foot).
