Update Room Area from Manual Area

Many sites find it convenient to start with a database entry of room and their areas (a room list) and gradually incorporate CAD areas as you inventory each floor plan in CAD.

If you are working with a room list, you will enter a room's area into the database by completing the Room Area Manual Entry field of the Rooms table; the Room Area field is not available for you to edit because its value derives from a room asset symbol depicted in a CAD room plan drawing.

The system's calculations use the value that is stored in the Room Area field. Therefore, if you are working with a room list, you need to apply the value entered in Room Area Manual Entry to Room Area. To do so, you run this action which copies the value from Room Area Manual Entry to Room Area.

The action only updates Room Area only if it is zero.  This is so that you can merge CAD-generated and manual areas and use the more accurate CAD area if it is available.

To run the action:

  1. Choose the Update Room Area from Manual Area task.
  2. The system presents a screen for running this job. Choose the Start Job button.
  3. The system will indicate when the job is complete.
