Installing Archibus Web Central with Oracle WebLogic

This topic covers installing Archibus Web Central with the Oracle WebLogic application server. The text presumes you are familiar with this application server.

If you are not using Web Central projects (such as "HQ-Sybase-WebEdition") that use Sybase JDBC/ODBC driver, remove sajdbc4-12.01.jar from WEB-INF\lib folder.

Note: Archibus uses the version of JDK shipped with your version of WebLogic.

Note: Archibus V.26.1 does not support the WebLogic application server. (AD-4875)

Procedure

Install Oracle WebLogic, and configure a domain as per Oracle's instructions.

  1. Create an archibus folder in the location of the domain.
  2. Expand (unzip) the WAR file to the archibus folder.
  3. After WAR file is expanded, copy the license file into \archibus\WEB-INF\config and edit the afm-projects.xml to point to the correct project.
  4. Start the WebLogic Admin server and log in to the Admin Server Console.
  5. In the Domain Structure section, select the Deployments link.
  6. Click Lock & Edit, and click Install.
  7. The "Install Application Assistant" page opens. Navigate to the location of the archibus folder, select the radio button for the archibus folder, and choose Next.
  8. The next page opens and "Install this deployment as an application" is selected by default. Choose Next.
  9. When the next page opens, keep all default values. Choose Next.
  10. When the next page opens, keep all default values. Choose Finish.
  11. The "Setting for Archibus" page opens. Choose Save.
  12. "Settings updated successfully" displays. Choose "Activate Changes."
  13. Under "Domain Structure" select "Deployments".
  14. The Summary of Deployments page opens. Check the box next to archibus, and click "Start" and "Servicing all requests".
  15. The Start Application Assistant page opens. Choose Yes.

Optional: Install the Online Help Systems (not supported in V.26.1 and beyond)

Note: Beginning with Archibus V.26.1, installing the help systems locally using an archibus_help_war file is not supported for WebLogic. Instead of the archibus_help_war file, we now provide a series of zip files that can be downloaded from Allbound or obtained from Professional Services. The below procedure applies to pre-V.26.1 Archibus.

Accessing online help from Web Central (either through the Help command or right-clicking on the Navigator) automatically brings you to the latest help systems that are stored on the Archibus web site; for example,http://www.archibus.net/ai/abizfiles/v25.1_help/archibus_help/user_en/archibus.htm

Since help systems stored on the web site are continually updated, accessing online help from these locations ensures that you are working with the very latest help release.

Some sites wish users to access online help from the company's network, rather than from the Archibus web site. In this case, you can install the help locally on your network by extracting them from the archibus_help_war, available from the Software Downloads section of SpaceIQ Allbound or Professional Services.

Follow this installation procedure:

  1. Use WinZip or another archive utility to expand the archibus_help_war into a temporary directory, preserving all subfolders.

  2. The expansion process creates a series of folders:

    • \archibus_help\system (for System Management Help)
    • \archibus_help\user_en (for Archibus Help in English)
    • \archibus_help\user_fr (for Archibus help in French, and so on for other languages)
  3. From the temporary location, copy the \archibus_help\system\ and \archibus_help\user_*\ directories to the \Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\base_domain\ directory on your system.

  4. Start the WebLogic Admin server and log in to the Admin Server Console.

  5. In the Domain Structure section, select the Deployments link.

  6. Click Lock & Edit and click Install.

  7. The Install Application Assistant page opens. Navigate to the location of the archibus_help project, select the radio button for archibus_help, choose Next.

  8. The next page opens and "Install this deployment as an application" is selected by default. Choose Next.

  9. When the next page opens, keep all default values. Choose Next.

  10. When the next page opens, keep all default values. Choose Finish.

  11. The Setting for Archibus page opens. Choose Save.

  12. "Settings updated successfully" displays. Choose Activate Changes.

  13. Under "Domain Structure" select "Deployments."

  14. The "Summary of Deployments" page opens. Check the box next to archibus, and click "Start" and "Servicing all requests".

  15. The Start Application Assistant page opens. Choose Yes.
