EH&S Background Data / Define Personal Protective Equipment Types

The personal protective equipment required by a job type or work category might include a hard hat, welding gloves or a face shield. You can define all types of PPE gear used in your organization.

In addition, you can note if and when a particular type of gear must be replaced or renewed. When the delivery of the equipment is scheduled, you can generate email notifications to all employees on the delivery list.

To define a PPE Type:

  1. In the Process Navigator click EH&S Background Data to open the background data entry tab.
  2. Under Personal Protective Equipment click Define Personal Protective Equipment Types.

Previously defined PPE types are listed in the middle pane.

  3. In the middle pane click Add New to open the entry form in the right pane.
  4. In the entry form enter a PPE type code and optional description for the category.

A type code might be safety gloves, face shield, hard hat etc.

  5. (Optional) Select an Equipment Standard that applies to the PPE item.
  6. If the PPE item has a limited life and must be replaced after a specific time period, in the Is Renewal Required box select Yes.
  7. Use the Define Recurrence Pattern tool to establish a schedule for PPE item replacement.
  8. Click Save at the top of the input form to save the PPE item to the database.

If the NotifyPpe parameter is set to YES in Application Parameter background data, the employee will be sent an email when a PPE Type delivery is scheduled.
