ARCHIBUS works with several different versions and editions of the Adaptive Server Anywhere database server.
Note: The ARCHIBUS hq.db and schema.db shipped with ARCHIBUS are in version 9 format. If you are using Sybase 10 or 11, you must update these databases. See Using ARCHIBUS with Sybase 10 or 11
Adaptive Server Anywhere (ASA) comes in the following editions:
The single-user is a personal server that you install in a single-user configuration. This is a "runtime" version of the Sybase server, which allows full access to your database data. This version is appropriate for most single-user configurations of ARCHIBUS.
The single-user server ships on the ARCHIBUS CD with all copies of
ARCHIBUS. The ARCHIBUS Setup program installs this server in the
c:\Program Files\archibus\20.1\Sybase\
folder. For details, see Single-User
Installation.
The Single-User/Authoring server is also a personal server. However, it provides the following additional features that make it appropriate for sites that are making changes to their schema or that are creating a new schema:
You purchase the Single-User/Authoring server separately from the ARCHIBUS program. It comes on its own CD and you install it using its own Setup program.
The Multi-User server has all of the features of the Single-User/Authoring server, but it also allows multiple users to access databases simultaneously. Sybase sites that have multi-user versions of ARCHIBUS use this server to support workgroup configurations.
The Multi-User database server program also includes the customization features found with the Single-User/Authoring server.
You purchase the Multi-User server separately from the ARCHIBUS program. It comes on its own CD and you install it using its own Setup program. See Installing a Sybase Multi-User Configuration
