Database Production: Overview

ARCHIBUS supports three different Database Management Systems, including Sybase, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle.

All development changes for the database are made in a canonical version of the Sybase HQ.db.
In every database production cycle, the production Sybase Hq and Schema are created first from a copy of the canonical Sybase hq.db.
Then the production HQ and Schema databases for SQL Server and Oracle are created from the canonical Sybase HQ.db.

If needed, the database administrator can follow the instructions in the topics in this section to create the production databases for Microsoft-SQL and Oracle database servers. See Creating the Microsoft SQL Server Database or Creating the Oracle Database.

Pre-requisites

Ensure all files are up-to-date, especially:
- ALL *.abs files.
- ARCHIBUS Windows Executables, especially the Database Update Wizard .
Ensure that the lowest version of the database engine that we currently support is being used for any particular database; otherwise, the databases produced will not be compatible with the databases that we support.
