Define Answers

For multiple choice questions, you must define the answers that you want users to choose from. When you define a multiple choice question, the right panel includes the Answer Options section so that you can define the responses from which the user can choose.

Define an answer option by completing these fields of the Answer Options (quest_answer_option_ext) table.

Field Description
Answer Option Text Enter the answer text that you want the user to choose from. For example: Yes, No, N/A
Sort Order Enter a number to reflect the response's position in relation to the other responses.

Copying a multiple choice question automatically copies the response choices. Since you will often have the same set of responses for a series of questions, it is convenient to create new questions and responses by copying an existing question using the green plus icon in the Questions List.

Based on a response, you may want to present another question or allow the user to comment. For information, see Define Follow-up Actions Based on Answers

Reviewing a Question and its Answer Options (The Question Tree)

The console displays the Question Tree for all questions; however, it is particularly useful for multiple choice questions so that you can see the answer responses and each question together. If you add follow-up actions for a particular response, the tree shows the follow-up actions so that you can easily see the path that a user might take when using the questionnaire.

For example, in the below image, you can see the original question, the yes/no responses, and the follow-up question and response. Select any of the items in the tree and its details appear in the right pane, as does the follow-up free-form question for a Yes response, below.
