Indicating Incident Information on a Floor Plan Drawing

Whether you are a safety manager or an occasional employee, once you save initial information about your incident, the system activates the Indicate on Drawing button. Use the ARCHIBUS redlines feature to indicate on the floor plan notes about the incident, the exact location in which the incident occurred, and so forth.

For example, if an employee slipped and fell in the lobby, you can access the floor plan drawing, zoom into the lobby, and indicate the exact location of the fall on the floor plan. Perhaps the carpet was torn in this area or the floor had just been waxed. This information can be valuable when correcting the situation that caused this mishap or analyzing the root causes of your workplace accidents.

The system saves your redlined drawing and attaches it to the incident as a document.

To add redlines:

  1. From either the Report Incident task or the Track Incidents task, save your initial record. Next, choose the Indicate on Drawing button. The system presents the Create Incident Redline by Location form.
  2. In the left side of the form, choose the floor plan drawing for the floor on which the incident occurred. The system loads this drawing.
  1. Before adding the redlines, you may wish to adjust the drawing by zooming, panning, displaying labels, and so forth. For example, you may wish to zoom into a corridor so that you can note the exact location of a fall. For information on adjusting the drawing, see Working with Drawings.
  2. Use the redline tools to indicate an area on the drawing, add text to the drawing, or place a drawing marker. For information, see Adding Redlines to Drawings.
  3. When through, choose the Submit Redlines as Incident button. The system completes the form with a generic document name and description, which you can change .
  4. Retain the default name and description, or enter a name and description if you wish. Choose Submit, and the system returns you to the Report Incident form. The system displays a message that your redlines have been added as an incident document.
  5. If you are a safety manager running the Track Incidents task, you can move to the Documentation tab, where you will see your redlined drawing listed as document for this incident. You can also access this document from the document library (the Documentation/Track EH&S Documents task).
