Setting Up the ARCHIBUS Enhanced Global Feature Set

If you are using the Enhanced Global Feature Set, you configure the application as follows:

Enable VAT and multicurrency. To activate the global feature set, you set the application parameter for "EnableVATandMultiCurrency" to Yes. Enabling VAT and multicurrency adds the ARCHIBUS security group so users can access these features. See Enabling/Disabling VAT and Multicurrency.
Define the currencies you use for cost transactions and for your organization's budget. When you add a currency, you also add its conversion factor. See Defining Currencies.
Define currency conversion rates. Enter the factors to use to convert currencies. See Define Exchange Rates.
Define default VAT percent values by cost category and country. To facilitate data entry, you can run an action that copies existing cost categories so that you can assign them a VAT percent value for a country. The system uses these default percentages to calculate VAT, unless you manually override this percentage. See Define VAT Percent Values.
Enable multiple units for area fields by setting the AbCommonResources-ConvertAreaAndLengthToUserUnits application parameter to "True." See Enabling Multiple Units for Area Fields.

After you change the application parameter to enable/disable multi-currency/VAT, the applications will report errors if users attempt to edit existing cost records defined under the previous setting. Therefore, ARCHIBUS recommends that you carefully decide whether the project should enable/disable MC/VAT before beginning to enter data, and do not change that parameter mid-stream without very careful consideration. As a work-around, you can update pre-existing records using the Smart Client to bring them into conformity with the current (enabled vs disabled) setting.
