Draw Tagged Furniture
Your site can choose to document their tagged furniture inventory with a furniture plan, in which furniture is represented on CAD floor plan drawings. To create a furniture plan, a CAD specialist needs to add furniture asset symbols to the existing floor plan drawings. Furniture plans are handy for visualizing the exact location of a furniture item within a room. For example, if a craftsperson needs to service a piece of furniture, they can check the furniture plan to see the exact location on the floor of the item. Depending on operations at your site, you may choose to represent only certain types of furniture, such as expensive furniture, in a floor plan drawing.
Tagged Furniture is represented on the Tagged Furniture (FT) asset layer and are registered to the Tagged Furniture (FT) table.
Procedure
Prerequisite: Typically, someone at your site will have already defined furniture standards and other background data about the facility. The CAD specialist should have previously defined furniture blocks and developed a CAD floor plan.
- On the Navigator in Archibus Smart Client, move to one of the processes listed at the top of this topic. Choose the Draw Tagged Furniture task.
- If you are working in Smart Client and CAD is not active, the task presents the Drawing List
so that you can choose a drawing to work on. Choose the drawing, and Archibus loads your CAD tool, displays the selected drawing, and makes CAD the active application.
Note: Alternately, if you are starting from CAD, open a drawing (if necessary), and prepare the drawing for working with tagged furniture by choosing Set Tagged Furniture on the Navigator.
- Depict the floor's tagged furniture by inserting furniture blocks. There are several methods. For your convenience, commands for these methods are listed on the Navigator.
- Insert an instance of a block drawing representing your furniture items by choosing Insert Block from the Navigator. Browse to find your block drawing, and then position your block.
- If furniture standards have been defined, you can asset insert them. Choose Asset Insert from the Navigator and then choose a standard from the resulting list. Choose a position for your block, and the command inserts it and displays its standard as asset text.
- If Tagged Furniture records already exist in the database and you now want to generate asset symbols for these records, you can populate the drawing with furniture blocks. Choose the Populate Tagged Furniture to Rooms task on the CAD Navigator. Based on the database information, the system will add the blocks to the appropriate rooms, assign them intelligence, and convert them to asset symbols. If you use this method, you can skip step 6 below. Once the system generates them, you will want to position your tagged furniture asset symbols within the room boundary.
- Populating generates asset symbols for all furniture items in the room. If you want to create asset symbols for just some items, asset insert the standard, which will add the block to the drawing. Next, from the CAD Navigator, run the "Attach to Record" command, which will prompt you to select the database record to connect to this block to form an asset symbol.
- Data edit the blocks to convert them to asset symbols and register them in the database. Complete the following fields:
- Tagged Furniture Code -- Enter a value to uniquely identify this furniture item.
- Building Code/Floor Code -- The program may have already completed these with values from the drawing's default space hierarchy values. If not, you may select from the available values by choosing the ellipses button.
- Room Code -- Enter the room in which the furniture item is located by typing the room number or choosing the room from the ellipses button.
- Furniture Standard -- If you asset inserted your furniture item, the block will have a standard. If you used the Insert Block command, you will need to complete the standard.
- Division Code/Department Code -- Enter the division and department that uses this furniture item. You can type values or choose values from the validating list accessed through the ellipses buttons. If you wish, you can infer these values from the room asset symbol in which the equipment asset symbols are located by choosing the Infer command from the Navigator.
- So that your furniture plan can be viewed using Archibus Web Central or Smart Client, publish your drawing as an Archibus Enterprise Graphic file by running the Publish Enterprise Graphics command, which is located on the CAD Navigator for your convenience.
- If you like, view your furniture plans in reports by accessing Smart Client or Web Central and running the "View Room Plan with Tagged Furniture" task.
