Automatically Create Ports for Patch Panels

From the Telecom Console's Patch Panels & Ports tab, you can create ports for patch panels according to the defined standards and configurations.

This requires that you first define a numbering convention and other information by working with these tasks:

The Panel Standard determines the number of ports and types of ports that the system will create for a patch panel of each standard.

To create ports for patch panels:

  1. Click the Panels & Ports tab in the Telecom Console's left pane.
  2. Check the box for the desired patch panel in the tab's left column.

    Ports assigned to the selected patch panel, if any, appear below the list of patch panels.

  3. Click Edit for the selected patch panel.

    A record for the selected patch panel opens.

  4. Verify that the correct Panel Standard appears. If not, click the Select Value button.

    A Select Value box for panel standards appears.

  5. Select the applicable panel standard.

    The Select Value box closes, and the panel standard you selected appears in the Patch Panel record.

  6. Click Save to save the information in the Patch Panel record.
  7. Click Create Ports for Patch Panels above the list of patch panels.

    A message confirms the system has created ports for the selected patch panel, according to the panel standard you selected. Click OK to close the message box.
