Environmental Health & Safety: Application Overview

The EH&S application provides a comprehensive solution to the problem of efficiently managing all aspects of an enterprise-wide safety program. The application supports the tracking of safety-related incidents, training programs, employee medical monitoring, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE ).

Business Process Owner

The corporate safety officer is the main user of the EH&Sapplication. Safety officers will use the application to schedule and assign training, manage the delivery and use of PPE, assign work restrictions and more. If a safety-related incident occurs, the application can be used to associate incidents with locations, equipment, and employees. Training and medical monitoring can be easily linked to the incidents that created the need. Incident witnesses statements, lost work days and short- and long-term corrective actions can also be documented.

As an added plus, role-based system security allows the safety officer to restrict access to most information while also providing employees with access to their personal safety-related information. This encourages employees to take responsibility for various aspects of their safety program, including training, PPE Types renewal and routine medical monitoring.

Typical Workflow Scenario

There are several steps in implementing the EH&S application:

  1. Input application background data.
  2. Populate the application with up-to-date safety program information.
  3. Use the application to monitor and review ongoing safety programs.
  4. Provide employees access to their safety data.
  5. Set up a safety-related document library.

Providing Background Data

EH&Sbackground data describes your safety program. This data can include information about some or all of the following items:

  1. General Facility Information
  2. Work Categories in your organization
  3. Personal Protective Equipment Types (PPE) required by work category or employee
  4. Training Programs required by work category or employee

  6. Incident data related to an accident or injury
  7. Work Restrictions placed on employees
  8. Application Parameters to control the EH&S application's behavior
  9. Document Library of archived safety-related documents

Populating the Application

Once you have entered Facilities and EH&S Background Data into the application, you can populate the application with the following information:

  1. Work Categories: Assign employees and PPE Types to work categories and track categories.
  2. Track: Track various aspects of your safety program, including:
